It’s our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, ‘Are U OK?’ and start a meaningful conversation whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life.
R U OK? is a harm prevention charity that encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times in their lives. Whether you’re an administrative staff member, department leader or classroom teacher you can change lives.
We know the work of health professionals is vital, and their value cannot be underestimated however we can all play a role in supporting the people in our world. Although, research has found four in ten Australians feel asking someone “are you OK?” is a conversation better had with an expert, you don’t need to be an expert to have an R U OK? conversation. Listening and giving someone your time might be just what they need to help them through.
